If someone wants a Driving Licence in Dubai, then he or she doesn't have to be rich. But when somebody gets it then definitely they are going to get poorer. Though, getting a driving licence is never an issue in India, and who so ever is able to run the 11 no. bus can fly a bike and with the jump in social ladder can skid a car. But this phenomena is least helpful in getting a driving licence in Dubai where they take driving far more seriously.
I was a victim of the Indianness involved in driving and the worst victim of the system that enables us to get licence to drive in Dubai. So, it took me 7 tests to get the licence (I was taking Driving Classes every weekend which started at 8 in the morning, and I had six day work week) and yes I was financially ruined after getting it.
It was just a day before my Fifth Driving test that I came across a Rabindranath Tagore's small poem which was sent by Mayur Ahire, and with my then state of mind, I modified it in the following manner -
So much insanity,
so much dread,
I failed my 4th driving test,
searching for peace all over the week,
i still have to go to the 3 hour class at the end of week.
so much dread,
I failed my 4th driving test,
searching for peace all over the week,
i still have to go to the 3 hour class at the end of week.
peace be with us,
peace be within,
and on weekends i just want some rest.
Its just a matter time when i wont wait at the kerb,
and not anymore I'll see the face of that arab,
I'll have my much deserved and awaited weekend rest,
coz i'll pass in my 5th driving test.
peace be with us,
peace be within!
Well, I failed the 5th test also. Now the original poem is called as Tagore's bird and is as follows -
so much of insanity,
so much of dread,
who shot the Tagore's pigeon dead?
searching for peace over each others deadbodies,
religion screams hopelessly from mesopotamia to the valley.
peace be with us,
peace be within,
listen to the mother's lullaby,
listen her sing.
shining light is waiting for the dawn to break,
if only you could still hear the dulcet tunes of wind flirting with trees,
rays of hope within the arms reach,
if only you could still see the creator at work when the sun rises from beyond the seas.
peace be with us,
peace be within!
